“GETTING MARRIED AGAIN? READ THIS BEFORE YOU TIE THE KNOT,” CONSUMER REPORTS

Boyd Collar Nolen & Tuggle founding partner Robert Boyd, was interviewed by Consumer Reports in an article with tips for those contemplating remarriage. Boyd offered insights about managing, on the front end, family expectations such as children’s allowances, tuition and financial assistance to adult children or aging parents.

Boyd cautions against immediately combining finances, and instead suggests spouses may want to consider assigning different financial responsibilites, such as splitting household expenses. Such an arrangement is particularly useful to those previously impacted by an expensive divorce, the article notes. “They want to get into a level of trust, but they know how they’ve been burned before,” Boyd said.
